Palma offers many spots for fresh foods and the most amazing fruit and vegetables of all kinds. Located in the heart of Palma, more specifically in the Plaza del Olivar No. 4 (between Plaza Espana and Calle San Miguel) is my favorite market – Mercat de L’Olivar. The market is open Monday to Saturday from 7:00 to 14:30 pm. It’s an old market that has been serving Mallorcans and all visitors since 1951 – definitely worth a visit.
The many fruit and vegetable shops in the market are my favorite spots – everything tastes more when it comes fresh from a market. Mercat de L’Olivar’s fruit and vegetable stalls provides fresh high-end products – a lot organic or even grown in the greengrocer’s own gardens.
Today I bought ingredients for my favorite asian glass noodle sallad, a very tasty, vegan sallad. Do it just as you like and fill it with your favorite vegetables.
This is what you need and how I do it:
1/5 red cabbage-head
1 dl Edamame beans
The juice from 1 lime
3 tablespoons of japanese soy
1/2 red chili pepper
1 tablespoon of honey
Start by slicing carrots and red cabbage, wok them in coconut oil together with edamame beans and fresh sprouts.
Add glass noodles and roasted sesame seeds. Pour over the vinaigrette and serve with fresh cilantro, mango and cashew nuts.
